HOMOCERA – THE DISORDER OF THINGS

'Homocera - The Disorder of Things' is an introspective body of work produced for the 'Bohemian Selfish' show. It narrates the funny, absurd and sad story lived on 49 Hilldrop Crescent during lockdown, alongside Fauve Zibaut and Izzy Bouric. Stuck in a house with queer friends, the artist could play with gender without having any consequences on the anti-routine Bohemian Selfish was subjected to. A glimpse into an antechambing shows the tender memories Benjamin has in regards to these ridiculous baby moths (vernacular name: heterocera). Lightness and seriousness merged and the artist invites you to witness it through the lens of a rusty projector.

AGRESSIVE(S) – 4th Edition

This stroboscopic series alternates between portraits of Fauve Zibaut and self-portraits.

CHIMIES

An experiment gone too far – Chimies stemmed from a visit to the Musée des Moulages (museum of mouldings). This place keeps a records of dermatologic diseases on mouldings casted from the 18th century, in the middle of a hospital in Paris. The artist's obsession with seeing inside the body dissolved the distinct confine skin draws between environment and self. This never-ending series of chemical oil paintings on paper shows a language Benjamin manufactured in his studio-flat-laboratory and the many solvents they used to drown these bodies and faces.
